Junior Gilbert Rogers

Junior Gilbert Rogers, age 90, resident of Chelsea departed this life on Sunday evening, March 21, 2021 at the Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center in Muskogee, Oklahoma.  Junior was born on September 23, 1930 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and was the son of Sullivan Gilbert and Ethel Mary (Edwards) Rogers.  He was raised in Broken Arrow and attended Little Oneta School.  Junior was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving from May 29, 1951 to May 18, 1953.  He married the love of his life, Lela Mary Hash on November 25, 1950 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Junior was a truck driver for most of his life.  He enjoyed playing marbles, hunting, fishing, going camping, playing cards, and he loved fast cars.  Junior loved spending time with his family and friends.  He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

Junior is survived by his son, Joe Rogers of Chelsea, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Bryan Rogers and wife Robin and Jennifer Dick; four great grandchildren, Allison Rogers, Amelia Rogers, Trevor Rogers, and Adilyn Dick; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Junior was preceded in death by his wife, Lela Mary Rogers; his parents, Sullivan Gilbert and Ethel Mary Rogers; one grandson, Casey Rogers; one brother, Raymond Rogers; and twin sisters, Genva and Joephene Rogers.

Visitation will be from 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at Brown Funeral Home in Broken Arrow with the family present to receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM.  Graveside services celebrating Junior’s life will be at 12:00 PM on Friday, March 26, 2021 at Park Grove Cemetery in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma with Pastor Randy Perry officiating.
