Orville Lee Mills

Orville Lee Mills was born in Bristow, Oklahoma on September 7, 1940, to Willie Elmer and Chloe Mills, and departed this life in Coweta, Oklahoma on Saturday, April 6, 2024.

Orville’s dad traveled a lot, roaming from state to state working on oil fields. On one of these travels, he met the love of his life, Paula Kay Todd. They corresponded through letters for years, until, in the last letter, he proposed to her. They were married on December 1, 1958. They had 2 daughters, Debra Kay, and Sherry Lee. Their love story lasted for 57 years until Kay passed away in November of 2015.

He was the most amazing and loving dad, husband, and papaw. He sacrificed so very much to provide a wonderful and rich life for each of them.

He worked as a painter for most of his life. He opened his own paint contracting business, “Traditional Decorators,” in 1984, with up to 25 employees at a time. With his talent and reputation on the jobs, and Kay running the business side in the office; they became a true, rags to riches story.

He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Paula Kay Mills; his parents, Willie Elmer and Chloe Mills; brothers, Billy Charles Mills, Clifford Ray Mills, and Phillip Stanley Mills; and brother-in-law and best friend, Ronald Todd.

He is survived by his daughters, Sherry Lee Mills, Debra Kay Younger and husband Andy Younger; grandchildren, Kandice Daulton, Damon Daulton and wife Brianna, Chelsea Blankenship and husband Brandon, Caelan Matney and wife Amanda; great grandchildren, Elora, Elowen and Ronan Matney, and Lucas and Olivia Daulton.

Orville was a genuinely good and kind man. The world and all of those who were blessed to know him, are better for it.

A visitation for Orville will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta. A homegoing celebration service will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the Coweta Church of God of Prophecy in Coweta, officiated by Pastor Larry Duncan, followed by burial at Vernon Cemetery, in Coweta, Oklahoma.
