Peter "Pete" Euene Poulos

Peter “Pete” Eugene Poulos, age 92, resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Pete was born on February 21, 1930 in Wichita, Kansas to George and Hazel Marie (Hayward) Poulos.  Pete was a 1949 graduate of Tulsa Central High School.  He then received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas.  Pete worked at John Zinc as a mechanical engineer and then he co-owned and operated Pro-Quip where he built Cryogenic Power Plants.  He also helped the seven original astronauts to design NASA’s Jet-Propulsion Backpack.  Pete enjoyed riding sport bikes, hunting, golfing, working on cars and motorcycles, and he loved sports.

Pete is survived by his wife, Glenda Poulos; his children, Marc Poulos and wife Sherry Gibbany-Poulos, Dana Antonides and husband Jean Antonides, Paula Thompson and husband Philip Thompson, Pamla Poulos, Brian Drexel and wife LaRee Drexel, and Scott Drexel and wife Amanda Drexel; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, George and Hazel Marie Poulos, four brothers, Bill Poulos, Charles Poulos, Ted Poulos, and Jim Poulos, and one sister, Rosie Landreth.

A memorial service celebrating Pete’s life will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Church of Christ at Whispering Hills in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma with Dale Graham officiating.  A graveside service with full military honors will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 13, 2023 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
