Rolland Tunny Copeland

Rolland Tunny Copeland, age 92, long-time resident of Tulsa, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side Friday afternoon, August 28, 2020.  Rolland was born on July 10, 1928 in Coweta, Oklahoma.  He was the son of Bill and Cora Copeland.  He and Elsie “Bobbie” were married on December 27, 1952 in Huntsville, Arkansas.  Rolland joined the Army on September 15, 1950.  Rolland worked for LeeWay Motor Freight until his retirement in May 1989.

Rolland is survived by his wife of 68 years, Elsie Copeland of the home; 4 daughters, Connie McDugle and husband Wayne of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Vickie Smith and husband David of Fort Worth, Texas, Ronda Jackson of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Debbie Puckett and Randy Page of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; 2 sisters, Donna Fricke of Texas and Hazel Warshum of Arkansas; 2 brothers, Alvin Copeland and Cleo Copeland, both of Coweta, Oklahoma.  Rolland has 6 grandchildren, Shanna, Lindsey, Brian, Jody, Amy, and Michael; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Rolland was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Cora Copeland; 2 sisters, Lois Stephens and Joan Moore; his son, Michael “Butch”; and his grandson, John Wayne McDugle.

Graveside services celebrating Rolland’s life will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma.  Military honors will be rendered by the United States Army Honor Guard.
