Roy Edward Holmes

Roy Edward Holmes, age 59, resident of Coweta, was called home by his most gracious and all mighty God Jesus Christ his Savior on Saturday morning, May 15, 2021 at his home in Coweta, Oklahoma. Roy was born on September 7, 1961 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He was the first-born son to Franklin F. Holmes and Mary Evelyn (Clemons) Holmes-Trower. Roy lived most of his life in Coweta, Oklahoma. He was a 1980 Coweta High School graduate and attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College on a scholarship. Roy married Lonna Ivie, and they have two children together, Joshua “Josh” Holmes and Lindsey S. (Holmes) Swisher. Roy worked for a time at Russelectric in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, but for majority of his life he worked as a drywall finisher. He loved to deer hunt, as his trophy wall will attest for. He also loved to go fishing, but most of all he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Roy is survived by his mother, Mary Evelyn Trower and stepfather Jerry; his children, Josh Holmes and wife Kathy, Lindsey Swisher and husband Jason, all of Coweta, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Cole Braden Kramer, Riley Ann Swisher, and Robin Dawn Holmes, all of Coweta, Oklahoma; three brothers, Joe W. Holmes and wife Sharon of Claremore, Oklahoma, Bruce Miller and wife Sherry of Prue, Oklahoma, and Tony Robinson and wife Beth of Bixby, Oklahoma; one sister, Bunny Hutson and husband Tony of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; his nieces and nephews, Tyler and Alyssa Holmes of Claremore, Oklahoma, Kelce Holmes and fiancé Nicholas Hinojosa of Fresno, California, Blake S. Holmes of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Cole Thorton of Claremore, Oklahoma, Dara Guthrie and husband Jacob of Choctaw, Oklahoma, Melana Ivie and her son Jayden of Coweta, Oklahoma, Kari Cox and husband  Bryce of Glenpool, Oklahoma, Heather Ellard and husband Zach of Claremore, Oklahoma, Melissa Potter and husband Myles of Prue, Oklahoma, Matt Hutson and wife Kendra of Loxahatchee, Florida, Tanner Robinson, Chris Robinson, and  JD Robinson, all of Bixby, Oklahoma; two uncles, Leroy Holmes and Paul Holmes; his ex-wife, Lonna Rozell and husband Paul; and numerous cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Roy was preceded in death by his father, Franklin F. Holmes and stepmother, Cathy; his parental grandparents, Roy and Opal Holmes; his maternal grandparents, Samuel E. and Mildred (Mollie) Clemons; and his nephews, Jeremy Rozell and Chris Hutson.

Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta. Services celebrating Roy’s life will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, Oklahoma.
