Sharon Jane Merciez

Sharon Jane Merciez, age 85, resident of Coweta, Oklahoma went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, April 18, 2021 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Sharon was born on March 22, 1936 in Pittsburg, Kansas and was the daughter of Henry and Sylvia (Lahey) Jones.  She was a graduate of Crawford County Community High School in Kansas where she was Homecoming Queen.  Sharon married the love of her life, Louis Alfred Merciez on June 10, 1961 in Chicopee, Kansas and they were blessed with two daughters, Michelle and Shannon.  She was an elementary teacher at St. Pius X School in Tulsa and Grimes Elementary School in Tulsa until she retired.  After retiring, she substituted at Coweta Public Schools until 2008.  Sharon was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Coweta, Oklahoma.  She enjoyed square and ball dancing with Louis, reading, watching football, politics, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Sharon is survived by her two daughters, Michelle Merciez Green and husband Jon of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Shannon Stokes and husband Ron of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Joshua Merciez, Marisa King, Annie Merciez, and Kody King; five great grandchildren, Dylan Merciez, Avery Merciez, Hadley King, Hudson King, and Harper King; one great grandson on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Alfred Merciez; her parents, Henry and Sylvia Jones; two brothers; and four sisters.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM with a Rosary Service that same evening at 6:00 PM at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, Oklahoma.  Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Coweta, Oklahoma.  Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg, Kansas.  Pallbearers are Josh Merciez, Kody King, Ron Stokes, Jon Green, Dylan Merciez, and Jake Marietta.
