Stanley Ray Holmes

Stanley Ray Holmes, age 70, resident of Haskell, Oklahoma departed this life on Sunday, September 26, 2021 in Holland, Indiana.  Stanley was born on July 5, 1951 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to Onis and Velma L. (Adney) Holmes.  Stanley was a 1969 graduate of Dale High School in Indiana and proudly served four years in the United States Air Force.  He was a horizontal drill operator for B & H Construction and was overseeing oil wells in Indiana.  Stanley enjoyed drilling and working oil wells as his father had done along with his son Grant.  He enjoyed doing various activities with his fiancé Vicki and his dog Lil Bear on weekends. 

Stanley is survived by his two children, Lisa Splawn and her husband Chad of Matthews, North Carolina and Grant Holmes and his wife Shannon of Selvin, Indiana; his fiancé, Vicki Day of Haskell, Oklahoma; his stepson, Cody Day of Indiana; six grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; his sister, Vickie Thacker and her husband Tom of Holland, Indiana; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Onis and Velma Holmes; his brother, Onis Keith Holmes; and his grandparents, Bill and Hazel Holmes and Tom and Iva Adney.

Viewing will be from 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, Oklahoma with the family present to receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.  Services celebrating Stanley’s life will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 4, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Coweta, Oklahoma with Tony Holmes officiating.  Stanley will be laid to rest at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers are Cody Day, Jimmy Holmes, Gary Holmes, Wesley Withers, Danny Denton, and Ricky Holmes.
