Obituary

Terry Jonathan Smith, a loving father, son, brother, and friend, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 48. He was born on June 22, 1974, in Alexandria, Virginia to Vernon Lamar and Rosalie G. (Bailey) Smith. Terry's life was marked by dedication, service, and love for his family.

Terry was raised in Spotsylvania, Virginia, where he attended Spotsylvania High School. His early years were filled with the love and support of his parents, Lamar and Rosalie Smith, as well as his siblings, David, Tim, Lisa, and Melodie. He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Daniel Lee Smith, and his paternal grandparents, Henry and Dorothy Smith, as well as his maternal grandparents, Woodrow and Eula Bailey.

Terry's life was characterized by his unwavering commitment to service. He began his career as a volunteer firefighter in West Point, Ohio, eventually rising through the ranks to become captain. Terry served with distinction for 20 years, earning the respect and admiration of his fellow firefighters. After relocating to Oklahoma, Terry continued to work hard, taking on the role of a dump truck driver.

Throughout his life, he enjoyed hunting and train watching. Terry was a devoted father to his son, Braden Ryan Smith, who resides in Owasso, Oklahoma. He enjoyed spending quality time with Braden, sharing his love for train watching and visiting the skate park. Terry's love for his son was evident in every aspect of his life, and his memory will live on through Braden's experiences and accomplishments.

Terry is survived by his parents, Lamar and Rosalie Smith of Coweta, Oklahoma; his son, Braden Ryan Smith of Owasso, Oklahoma; his brothers, David Lamar Smith and wife Diane of Jackman, Maine, and Richard Timothy Smith and wife Michelle of Weatherford, Texas; his sisters, Lisa Rose Ott and husband Steve of Spotsylvania, Virginia, and Melodie Rose Cobb and husband Chris of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss him dearly.

Visitation for Terry will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, Oklahoma. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Steven Lester officiating. As we gather to remember and celebrate Terry's life, we will be reminded of the lasting impact he made on those around him.

Terry's memory will be cherished by all who knew him, and he will be remembered by his stories, humor, and deep laughter.
