Thelma Rea Horton

Thelma Rea Horton, age 78, longtime Coweta resident went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday afternoon, December 23, 2020 at her son’s home in Coweta, Oklahoma.  Thelma was born on February 24, 1942 in Atoka, Oklahoma and was the daughter of Jack Walter and Mary Lou (Cooksey) Callicoat.  She married the love of her life, Delbert Franklin “Frank” Horton and they were blessed with five children.  Thelma worked for San Joaquin County in California as a secretary for over 25 years until she retired in 1993.  She was a faithful member of the Coweta Assembly of God where she loved being involved in the Young at Heart group.  Thelma was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved caring for her family.  She had a servant’s heart and was a joy to everyone who knew her.  Thelma was a true virtuous woman, that lived her life glorifying God in all she did.  She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.  Thelma enjoyed working in the yard, cooking, and she loved spending time with her family.

Thelma is survived by three children, Michelle Sparks of Coweta, Oklahoma, Lex Horton and wife Stephanie of Coweta, Oklahoma, and Rex Horton and wife Holly of Humansville, Missouri; eighteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Horton in 2002; her parents, Jack Walter and Mary Lou Callicoat; two sons, Garry Horton and Clinton Kelly Horton; one brother, Calvin Callicoat; and one sister, Shirley Callicoat.

Viewing will be from 2:00 – 8:00 PM on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta.  Services celebrating Thelma’s life will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at the Coweta Assembly of God in Coweta, Oklahoma with Pastor Steve Lee officiating.  Thelma will be laid to rest next to her husband at Greenwood Cemetery in Porter, Oklahoma.  Pallbearers are Aaron Horton, Zachery Horton, Justin Horton, Jordan Horton, Gavin Bowen, and Kaelan Bowen.
